Walter Wipfli


Walter Wipfli Sr., 80, of Galt, died Aug. 31 in a local hospital. He was born 
Feb. 13, 1920, in Niles.

Mr. Wipfli resided in Fremont for 74 years until moving to Galt 10 years ago. 
He was a craftsman and also worked as a dairy farmer in Fremont until his 
retirement. He was a member of Aelpler Gruppe Swiss Club of Newark. He enjoyed 
gardening and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Wipfli, of Galt; sons, Walter Wipfli Jr., 
of Redmond, Ore., Robert Wipfli, of Galt, Stan Wipfli, of Palm Springs; 
sisters, Olga Snyder, of Colosa, Frieda Bauhoffer, of Fremont, and Bertha Vogt, 
of Gilroy; and three grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Christopher's Catholic 
Church, 950 S. Lincoln Way, Galt, with Father Jerry Ryle officiating.

Ben Salas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
