He was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Noordwykerhout, The Netherlands. Mr. Warmerdam came to the United States for a brief time in 1948, and then went back to his homeland later that year to marry Adrianna Margreta VanSteyn. They came back to the U.S. and settled in Escalon and then Stockton. They moved to Lodi in 1954, where he and his brothers owned and operated Warmerdam Brothers Dairy until 1973. After leaving the dairy business, he raised cattle until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Parish in Lockeford, where he was the landscape gardener until a few weeks before his death. He was a soccer coach for his grandchildren's team. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Jane Warmerdam, of Lodi; sons, John Warmerdam, of Modesto, Case Warmerdam, of Clements, Gerard Warmerdam, of Lockeford; daughters, Diane Hoffman, of Acampo, Mary Vermuelen, of Oakdale; sisters, Annie Slingerland, of Elk Grove, Ali Zwetsloot, of Napa, Sjaan Ferry, of Lodi, Ellie Van Haaster, of Holland; brothers, Leo Warmerdam, Theo Warmerdam, and Wim Warmerdam, all of Holland; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Jack Elias Warmerdam; brothers, Pete Warmerdam, Albert Warmerdam, and John Warmerdam; and grandsons, John Warmerdam and Jesse Warmerdam. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joachim Catholic Parish with Father Michael Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Grove Cemetery in Lockeford. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Lodi Funeral Home.
