She was born April 22, 1940, in Stockton. Ms. Lucas graduated from Lodi Union High School. She continued her education and graduated with degrees in English and librarianship, and also received her California teaching credential from San Jose State University. In 1982, she received her doctorate in educational organization and leadership from the University of San Francisco. Linda Lucas She worked in the Livermore Unified School District and at Mission San Jose High School in the Fremont Unified School District until 1969 when she went to work for Chabot College as the reference librarian. In 1975, she became assistant dean of instruction of learning resources and was part of the original staff to open Valley Campus, which later became Las Positas College. In 1997, she was named dean of Division 1 at the college. She retired from the Community College District in 2000, and completed a juris doctorate from John F. Kennedy University. She joined the California Bar Association in December 2003 to begin a second career. She enjoyed the performing arts, and established the Lucas Scholarship for the performing arts at Las Positas College. She was an avid traveler who enjoyed visiting new places and learning about the people and cultures in the areas she visited. She is survived by her brother, Stanley Howard Lucas; stepbrothers, Chuck Farnsworth, Fred Farnsworth, Glen Farnsworth, and Jim Farnsworth; and mother, Amy Lucas Farnsworth. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Lucas; and brother Raymond Bruce Lucas. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Presbyterian Church, 10 N. Mills Ave., Lodi, with Pastor David Hill officiating. Committal will be private in the Devotion Mausoleum at the Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home.
