William Gaines





William Edward "Willie" Gaines, 84, of Maud, Okla. and formerly of Lodi, died 

Sept. 25 at a convalescent hospital in Seminole, Okla. He was born March 25, 

1920, in Sasakwa, Okla.



Mr. Gaines lived in Lodi and Stockton before moving back to Oklahoma 45 years 

ago. He was a World War II Veteran, and served in the U.S. Army as a 1st 

sargeant. He married Grace L. Renfro in 1946 in Carson City, Nev. In 1975, he 

retired from Tinker Airforce Base in OKC. He was a member of the Church of 

Christ.



He is survived by his wife, Grace Gaines, of Maud, Okla.; daughter, Doris Jean 

Ditter, of Salem, Ore.; sons, Larry Edward Gaines, of Tecumseh, Okla., and 

Terry Lee Gaines, of Horn Lake, Miss.; brother, Sidney Bert Gaines Jr., of 

Stockton; sisters, Nadine Murphy and Jewell Baker, both of Stockton, and Fay 

Nell Tyler, of Laurel, Md.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.



A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cummings Cemetery in 

Maud, Okla. with the Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating.
