He was born April 29, 1927, in Messena, N.Y. Mr. Catanzarite moved to California with his family in 1939, and settled in Fresno. He joined the U.S. Army in 1945 and was stationed in Okinawa. After his discharge, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Tripoli, North Africa. He worked as a volunteer firefighter in Lepsic, Del., and in Broderick in Sacramento County. Pat Catanzarite He was employed by Rohr Aircraft in Chula Vista, and by P.I.E. Trucking in Sacramento. He operated a snack bar at the J.C. Penney Store in Sacramento from 1960 until 1964, when he relocated his family to Lodi. He was a lifetime member of the Lodi Post No. 1968, and of the Military Order of Cooties Pup Tent No. 30. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was the first 13th District VFW All-American Commander from 1982-83. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wilma Catanzarite, of Lodi; son, Pat Catanzarite Jr.; daughters, Katherine Catanzarite, and Roxanne McBurnett; sisters, Domonick Catanzarite, Angie Catanzarite, Betty Burns, and Ann Hare; brothers, Frankie Catanzarite, Salvadore Catanzarite, and Tony Catanzarite; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Ann Capobianco; and step- grandson, Heath Barlow. A chapel service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lodi Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A virtual register book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com.
