He was born Sept. 26, 1921, in Lodi. Mr. Ferdun attended local schools and graduated from Lodi High School in 1938, where he played tennis and baseball. He was drafted in the U.S. Army during World War II, and served for over two years in the Philippine Islands. Charles Ferdun He married Marie Ellen Baker in 1948. He owned and operated a land leveling business and farmed in the Terminous and Lodi areas, and for neighboring farms. He and his partner, Bob Woods, owned and operated Case Tractor Dealership until 1981. They also owned and operated Ferdun and Woods Land Leveling Co. until their retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Lodi Rotary Club, a volunteer for the Lodi Boosters of Boys Sports, and he coached several generations of little league teams. He enjoyed flying planes, gardening, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed music, especially Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole and the big bands. He is survived by his son, Jerry Ferdun, of Lodi; daughter, Shari Arbios, of Lodi; brother, Clarence Ferdun, of Hololulu, Hawaii; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Ellen Ferdun in 2000; brothers, Richmond Ferdun and Stanley Ferdun; and sister, Gladys Brook. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Lodi Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
