He was born Nov. 20, 1912, in North Platte, Neb. Mr. Miller was raised in various areas of the Midwest. In 1934, he married Myrtle Jewel Guptill in Grand Junction, Colo. In 1946, he began his employment as an engineering tech with the Bureau of Reclamations, Department of the Interior in Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, and Ephrata, Wash. He retired after 40 years, and spent his time building homes and cabins, and also helped his son build his home. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he helped build churches, schools and other remodeling projects. He enjoyed fishing, collecting coins and stamps, history, reading and music. He is survived by his wife, Eva Miller, of Ontario, Ore.; daughters, Clara Belle Cox, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Betty Lou Boyd, of Sequim, Wash.; son, Charles P. Miller, of Lodi; stepsons, Clark Bender, of Ontario, and Rodney Bender, of Florida; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Jewell Miller. A funeral will be held at 4 p.m. today in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Ephrata Cemetery in Ephrata, Wash. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home and Nicoles Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
