Thompson-Caay, 87, of Lodi, died Oct. 12 in a local hospital. She was born May 8, 1917, on the Miwok Reservation in Tuolumne City. She moved to Stockton at the age of 20, and married Edward Caay. She worked at the cannery for many years, and was employed by the Stockton Unified School District as a custodian at Edison and Stagg high schools. She later worked at Stockton College for 30 years until her retirement. Lorena Caay She was recognized by the Federal Government as one of the oldest members of the Miwok Tribe in California. She enjoyed gardening, and attending horse shows with her daughter and granddaughter. She is survived by her daughter, Edith L. Caay, of Lodi; and granddaughter, Catherine Caay, of Lodi. She was preceded in death by her husband, who was killed in Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carter's Cemetery in Tuolumne City. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
