Margaret ‘Granny’ Matthews March 4, 1915 -- April 28, 2004 Services will be Monday for Tracy resident Margaret "Granny" Matthews, 89, who died Wednesday at Tracy Convalescent Hospital. Born in Wills Point, Texas, Mrs. Matthews lived in Tulsa, Okla., before moving to California, where she married Lewis Tom Matthews. For 50 years she lived in Menlo Park, where she was an usher for Jerusalem Baptist Church. She moved to Tracy seven years ago and joined St. Matthews’ Baptist Church in Livermore. Mrs. Matthews was a retired housekeeper. She liked to camp, help others in need and spend time with her family. Mrs. Matthews is survived by a daughter, Audrey Cooper, and her husband, Troy, of Tracy; six grandchildren, Dedra Woodard, and her husband, Anthony, and Deloria, Athena, Angelique and Troy Jr. Cooper, all of Tracy, and Adrena Cooper of Palo Alto; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1995. Monday’s services will begin at 10 a.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., where visitation will be observed from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday.
