Mary August
Mary C. August, 88, of Galt, died Oct. 22 in Lodi. She was born April 3, 1916, 
in Hilo, Hawaii.

Mrs. August moved to Isleton with her family when she was a young girl. She 
married Antonio P. August in 1937, and eventually the couple moved to Lodi. She 
was employed as a sorter at H. J. Hintz Co. for 30 years until her retirement. 
She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and Legions of Mary.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Winters, of Galt; brothers, Fred 
Carvalho, of Stockton, and Willie Carvalho, of Rio Vista; sister, Rose Silva, 
of Sacramento; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio August in 1986; brothers, 
Tony, Peter, Henry, Manuel and Joe Carvalho.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne's 
Catholic Church in Lodi. Committal will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. The 
Holy Rosary will be recited on at 7 p.m. Wednesday at in the chapel at Lodi 
Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, and 8 a.m. 
to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
