June Papke
June Viola Papke, 83, of Lodi, died Oct. 22 in a Stockton convalescent 
hospital. She was born June 11, 1921, in Denhoff, N.D.

Mrs. Papke married Harry Papke in 1938 in McClusky, N.D., and the couple moved 
to Lodi in 1960. She was a member of Fairmont Seventh-day Adventist Church. She 
enjoyed cooking, canning, square dancing and family gatherings.

She is survived by her son, Roger Papke, of Stockton; sisters, Mildred 
Steenblock, Goldie Adams, and Elsie Ahl, all of Lodi, and Erma Boepple, of 
Nevada; brother, Bill Vietz, of Oregon; six grandchildren, 15 great-
grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Papke; daughter, Carol Jean 
Smiley; and sisters, Florence Mertz and Leona Laib.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lodi Funeral Home with Pastor 
Harley Schander of Fairmont Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating. Committal 
will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 
8 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairmont Seventh-day Adventist Church 
Memorial Fund, 730 S. Fairmont Ave., Lodi, CA 95240.
