She was born Jan. 8, 1937, in Lodi. Ms. Bird moved to Kulm, N.D. with her family shortly after birth, where she was raised and educated. She moved back to Lodi in 1957, where she remained for the rest of her life. She was employed as a cook for 50 years at Helwig's Restaurant, Art & LaVerne's Coffee Shop, and the Lodi Elk's Lodge. She owned and operated Bill & Ginny's Restaurant on Highway 99 and Collier Road, and later Cherokee Lane in Lodi, until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of the former First Southern Baptist Church in Lodi, and of the Lodi Moose Lodge. She enjoyed family get-togethers, cooking, camping, fishing, home decorating, music, dancing, picnics, and watching sports. She was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. She is survived by her son, Robert D. Rempfer, of Woodbridge; daughter, Tracy Young, of McArthur; brothers, Merrill Rempfer, of Dixon, Earl Rempfer and Howard Rempfer, both of Lodi; sisters, Patricia Neumann, of Acampo, Vernice Bechtold, Sharon Schnabel, Betty Goble, Susan Rempfer and Karen Ferre, all of Lodi; and five grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi, with her nephew, Mr. Rod Belding and Pastor Larry Beck officiating. Committal will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, near Beckman Rd., Lodi.
