Helen Godwin April 6, 1924 — April 27, 2004 Services will be Friday for longtime Tracy-area resident Helen Godwin, 80, who died Tuesday at her granddaughter’s home in Manteca. Born in Lovelock, Nev., Mrs. Godwin lived in the Tracy area 50 years. She moved from Wells, Nev., in 1954 with her husband, Jack Godwin, who worked as the agent for the Western Pacific Railroad depot in Carbona. She worked for more than 20 years as an office manager for Triple E Produce in Tracy until she retired five years ago. Mrs. Godwin was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. A San Francisco 49ers fan, she liked teasing her grandsons when the 49ers beat the Dallas Cowboys (their favorite team). Mrs. Godwin will be remembered as a wonderful mother, special grandmother and great-grandmother, and a loyal friend. Mrs. Godwin is survived by her children, David Godwin, and his wife, Gail, of Galt, Mike Godwin, and his wife, Gail, of Reno, Nev., and Bonnie Parker, and her companion, Berry Miller, and Teri Godwin, and her companion, George Caves, all of Stockton; two brothers, Richard Murray of Cameron Park and Vern Kirner of San Rafael; three grandchildren, Tonya Rivas, and her husband, Troy, of Manteca, Michelle Patterson of Galt and Lisa Castillo, and her husband, Sergio, of Elk Grove; and six great-grandchildren, Nathan and Meghan Rivas, both of Manteca, Dario and Marissa Castillo, both of Elk Grove, and Nicholas and Caitlin Patterson, both of Galt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Godwin; and two siblings, Robert Murray and Viola Bailey. Friday’s services will begin at 11 a.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, in Manteca, where visitation will be observed from 1 to 7 p.m. today. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Godwin’s name may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin, 2609 E. Hammer Lane, Stockton 95201.
