She passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2004. She was raised in Illinois and Wisconsin. She came to San Francisco, California in 1930 to marry Harold King Dawson. They had met in High School in Wheaton, Illinois. They lived in the Bay Area for nine years before moving to Stockton. Harold died in 1973. Elda worked at the Naval Annex during World War II, then at Sharpe Army Depot. In 1949, she went to work at the County Clerk's office as a clerk typist rising to master calendar clerk before retirement. She served as secretary to the 49er Boy Scout Council and San Joaquin County Peace officers. She was a past member of the International Club, the Cosmopolitan Club and Treasurer of the Filipino Methodist Club. She was a member of the Legal Secretaries and very active in M.A.D.D. She was also very interested in Politics and a frequent contributor to Letters to the Editor (Record). She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for 60 years. She is survived by two daughters, Dianne Alta Bingham of Stockton and Dale Dow of Eugene, OR, and one son, Harold Emil Dawson of Stockton; sons-in-law, Laughvon Bingham and Vernon Delk and daughter-in-law, Penny Stevens Dawson; eight grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Emil A. Roegner of Danville, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., November 5, 2004, at Grace Methodist Church, 1625 N. Lincoln St., Stockton.
