He was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Scobey, Mont. Mr. Darchuck served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and the Korean War, in which he was decorated with metals. He was employed as a welder at Mare Island for 26 years. He enjoyed helping others, and helped to raised many children as well as his own. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Darchuck, of Lodi; daughters, Jeannie Ray, of Jackson, and Lisa, of Sonora; sisters, Alice and Shirley; brothers, Donald, Gary and Jimmy; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home with Pastor Larre Kostenko of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sutter Creek officiating. There will be no visitation and committal will be private at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
