He was 93 years old. Born in Ucon, Idaho on September 29, 1911, Earl met the love of his life, Pearl Murdock, in 1936. They were united in marriage and had their beloved children, Boyd and Karen. Shortly after, the family moved to Hanford, WA where Earl worked on an atomic war project. In 1945 they moved to Stockton where Earl worked for Nomellini Construction for 10 years prior to starting his own business, Godfrey & Hensley Cement Contractors. He worked until his retirement in 1978 and had donated his time to helping beautify the City of Stockton. Devoted to his faith, Earl was an Elder in the Latter Day Saints Church Linden Ward, where he and Pearl enjoyed many church functions. He and Pearl were also avid travelers and enjoyed playing golf at the Elkhorn Golf Country Club, where they had been longtime members. Above all, Earl dedicated himself to his family, and took great pride in being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children, Boyd E. Godfrey and Karen R. Waldo, both of Stockton; sisters, Mable Olive Bates and Donna Cook, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandchildren, Debra Ripley, Thor Waldo, Leland Waldo, Thea Waldo and Steven Waldo; great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Chelsey, Spencer, Alexandria, Kaylin and Allya; and many loving extended family and cherished friends. Earl was preceded in death by his beloved Pearl and his grandson, Dan Godfrey. A Service will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. in the Fireside Chapel of the Wallace-Martin Funeral Home, located at 520 N. Sutter St. Earl will be laid to rest at a private committal at Parkside Cemetery.
