He was born February 26, 1913, in Mayfield, Kan. Mr. Stocking was a Lodi resident and principal of Lodi Union High School from 1954 to 1966. He began his education in a one-room schoolhouse near Mayfield. He received his bachelor's degree at Pittsburg State Teachers College in 1937 and his master's degree at Columbia University in New York City in 1940. Frank Stocking In 1952, he completed the coursework for a doctorate in education at Stanford University in Palo Alto, after having served in the Navy during World War II. He was active in Lodi's Rotary Club and was a member of the Methodist Church, where he served as president of the Methodist Men's Club and was youth group advisor for many years. He continued to teach Sunday school until he was 85. He was also president of the California Interscholastic Federation for Sac-Joaquin section for 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Loeta Stocking, of Napa; daughters Suzanne Love, of Modesto, Shirley Stickney, of Assisi, Italy, and Marsha Niemann, of Napa; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
