Marie Thompson
Marie Grace (Bacigalupi) Thompson, 91, of Lodi, died Nov. 8 in a local 
convalescent hospital. She was born Jan. 20, 1913, in Columbia County.

Mrs. Thompson moved with her family to the Lockeford area in 1921, and settled 
next to Harmony Grove Church. In 1926, the family moved to Lockeford, where 
they owned and operated Jack's Ice Cream Fountain for many years. She attended 
Columbia Grammar School and Lodi Union High School. She attended San Jose State 
College and a Stockton business college. She was employed by the California 
Department of Motor Vehicles and the State Department of Employment in 
Stockton. She married Raymond Forbes in 1953, and they resided in Lodi. She 
worked with her husband in his window trimming business throughout the Central 
Valley. She enjoyed working in her garden, especially growing African Violets. 
She also enjoyed cats, and in later years taking cruises and trips to Ireland.

She is survived by her nephew, Gary Gordon, of Lockeford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Thompson in 1989; and sister, 
Valerie Gordon in 2000.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel at Gierhart-Wells & 
Donahue Funeral Home with Father Michael Kelly of St. Joaquim's Catholic Church 
officiating. Committal will be private at Harmony Grove Cemetery in Lockeford. 
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 
service time Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Grove Cemetery, or to St. 
Joaquim's Catholic Church.

Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
