Boyd, 80, of Grandview and formerly of Galt, died Feb. 22 in Boise, Idaho. He was born July 15, 1923, in McAlester, Okla. Mr. Boyd graduated from Galt High School, and then joined the Navy in 1941. He served as a seaman recruit, and spent 29 years in the submarine service. He retired as a lieutenant commander in 1971 after 30 years of service. After his retirement, he returned to Galt and served as supervisor for hydroelectric maintenance for two major utility companies. He later traveled the United States as a quality control engineer for the Electric Boat Company, which builds nuclear submarines. He and his wife moved to Grand View in 1991. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna Gwen, of Grandview; daughters, Nancy Reed and Gwen Dasaro, both of Sacramento; sister, Dolly Eich, of Thornton; brother, Carol Boyd, of Falls Church, Va.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Galt District Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
