She was born on April 18, 1914, in Grants Pass, Oregon, the third of four daughters born to Joseph Albert and Edna L. Dysert. She lived in Grants Pass with her family until the age of six. Her family moved in Astoria and later to Corvallis, OR, where she spent most of her school days. She graduated from Corvallis High School in 1932 then moved to Portland in 1933. In 1935 she met and married Ernest Kettleman. The couple moved to Los Angeles where they made their home. They were blessed with the birth of two daughters, Judy and Ginger. In 1954, her husband passed away, and Dicky returned home to be near her family. She was employed with J.C. Penney Co. for 14 years. In 1961, she married Jim Short. They lived in Los Angeles until they retired in 1970 and moved to Linden. In 1981, after 25 years of marriage, Jim died. Five years later she married Wilbur Krenz. They had four years together before he passed in 1990. Dicky a remarkably talented poet; she had two privately published books of her original poems. She was a member of the Linden United Methodist Church (UMW), Lillian Wallace Circle, Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Library, Rebecca Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, Scottish Rite Ladies, Salvation Army Home League and Prime Timers. She was also a volunteer for St. Joseph Medical Center and had been involved as an Election Officer for the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters. Dicky is survived by her daughters, Judy Scheppmann and Ginger Carlson; grandchildren Kennette, Greg, Susanne, Eric and Randy 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by numerous friends and other loving relatives. Friends are invited to attend visitations from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2004, at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary, 809 N. California Street in Stockton. The Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 20 at Linden United Methodist Church, 19147 East Highway 26 in Linden, followed by a graveside committal service at Linden Cemetery.
