Akira Yabumoto 
April 2, 1918 - November 16, 2004



Akira Yabumoto, born April 2, 1918 in Penryn, CA, passed away on Tuesday, 
November 16, 2004, in San Francisco, CA, at the age of 86. Formerly of Stockton 
and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. 
Akira is survived by his beloved wife, Wakako; sons, Nori (Peggy) Yabumoto and 
Dr. Dennis (Margaret) Yabumoto; daughters, Naomi (Frank) Nakasuji, Aileen 
Sasao, and Dr. Katherine (Mel) Young. A proud and loving grand-father to Dr. 
Craig Yabumoto, Julie Yabumoto, Dr. Keith Yabumoto, Dr. Denise Oshiro, Scott 
Nakasuji, J.D., Alex Yabumoto, and Melissa Yabumoto. He enjoyed five great-
grandchildren. He leaves behind brothers, Shigeru (Kimi) Yabumoto and Tada 
(Tomiko) Yabumoto. 
He was preceded in death by his first wife Esther; sister, Kinuyo Yokota, and 
brother Nao (Jane) Yabumoto. 
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2004, at 4:00 p.m. at 
the Stockton Buddhist Temple, 2820 Shimizu Drive, Stockton, CA 95203.
