Osborne Mar. 24, 1908 - Nov. 21, 2004 Lawrence J. Osborne, 96, passed away on November 21, 2004 at his residence in Belmont, CA. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he was preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Osborne and children Lawrence T. Osborne (Phyllis) of Murrieta, CA, Richard Osborne (Mary) of Bothell, WA, Mary Nissen (Glen) of San Carlos, CA and Nancy Sclater (Alan) of Seattle, WA, ten grandchildren, and five great-grand-children. Dr. Osborne earned six academic degrees in the fields of music, theology and English literature, receiving his Ph.D. degree from Stanford University in 1952. He was a Methodist minister, an accomplished musician and Professor of English at University of the Pacific prior to his retirement in 1978. He was a 33º member of the Masonic fraternity, and he belonged to the Scottish Rite Valley in Stockton where he served as founding co-chairman of the Scottish Rite Children's Language Center. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, November 26, 2004. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the California Scottish Rite Foun- dation, 855 Elm Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90813-4491.
