Punao, 82, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2004 in Stockton, CA. She was born January 27, 1922 in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. Ping is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel B. Punao. She is survived by her loving children, Garnet Punao of Stockton, Meg Punao of Stockton, and Rey Punao of El Dorado Hills. Ping is also survived by two sisters, Mercedes Abiad and Humildad Anisco; and by her adoring grandchildren, Marie Nagaya, Garlyn Punao, Lily Punao, Emily Pacheco-Bernardo, Cezile Pacheco, Danielle Punao, Rey M. Punao, and Katherine Punao; and, her great grand daughters, Maya Pacheco Bernardo, Ruby Nagaya, Camila Pacheco-Bernardo, and Alana Pacheco-Bernardo. Ping will be deeply missed by the families of Anisco, Arnaiz, Bernardo, Britting, Camama, Castillejos, Davis, Huggins, Napuli, Nosce, Pacheco, Padilla, Pamatong, Pastrana, Portillo, Rosales, Valdehuesa, and many others. Ping lived her life with an incredible spirit of generosity. As a school teacher in the Philippines, she organized a Cub Scout troop, attended nursing school, and was employed by the Government Service Insurance System and the Philippine Postal Service. She moved to the United States in 1970 where she worked for the offices of Dr. Saqueton of Stockton, then Dr. Schumacher of Lodi until retirement in 2000. Ping loved to lend unconditional assistance to others. She was a true giver, sharing her kindness and generosity with all that knew her. She opened her heart and home to countless friends and loved ones, who were touched by her faith and good will. Visitation is Saturday and Sunday, December 4-5, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Dr., Stockton, CA, with a Rosary there on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 6, at 10:00 a.m. at Presentation Church on Benjamin Holt Drive, in Stockton.
