Garcia Sept. 24, 1915 - Nov. 20, 2004 Mercedes L. Garcia, 89, of Stockton, entered into rest on Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at a local hospital after an illness. She was born on Sept. 24, 1915 in Gallup, New Mexico, the daughter of Jose and Remedios Landeros. At the age of 16, her family moved to Mexico, where she met her future husband, Louis T. Garcia. They were married in 1934 in Santa Rita, New Mexico. A year later in 1935, the Garcia family came to California, and lived in Tracy until 1939, when they settled in Stockton. Mrs. Garcia was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her entire family, and was particularly proud of the fact that she was able to enjoy time with five generations of her progeny. She was remarkable human being, full of kindness and compassion, and lovingly opened her home to all. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting, caring for her pets and was a talented self-taught piano player. She was famous for designing "Nacimientos" (Christmas Nativity scenes) and was once featured on the local media with some of finest designs. Mrs. Garcia was long-time faithful member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church. She is survived by seven children: Jane Seica, Evelyn Diaz (Marshall), Conchita Pezzi (Robert), Mary Lou Okura (Frank), Arthur Garcia (Christina) and Mario Garcia, all of Stockton, and Sally Middleton (Michael) of Ventura. Also survived by two brothers: Manuel Cervantez and Rudolfo Landeros, both of El Paso, TX; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grand- children; and 14 great-great-grand children; and by her special friend, Molly Bustos. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis T. Garcia in 1996; son, Louis Garcia Jr.; grandchildren Frankie Guerra, Jeannie Lucero, Arianna and Andrew Armedarez. Friends are invited to attend visitations on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 from 1 to 8 p.m. at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary, 809 N. California Street in Stockton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the mortuary followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 1663 E. Main Street, Stockton, CA, followed by a committal and interment ceremony at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, Harding Way at Cemetery Lane in Stockton.
