Virginia Pearl Paiva Troop 
June 26, 1927 - November 30, 2004



Virginia Pearl Paiva Troop, loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and 
great-grandmother, died at the age of 77 in Stockton on November 30, 2004.
She was born in Terre Alta, West Virginia on June 26, 1927, to Oscar Franklin 
Groves and Mary Virginia Liston Groves. She lived in West Virginia until she 
attended God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Here she met and married Leon 
E. Paiva, Sr. in 1947. Upon graduating from God's Bible School, they went on to 
live in Allegheny, PA and surrounding areas until they moved to California in 
1972.
Virginia was a Pentecostal minister for 25 years. She was also a massage 
therapist for 12 years, and throughout her entire adult life, she was a 
selfless and giving mother to 10 children, grandmother to 23 grandchildren and 
great-grandmother of 15.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Leon E. Paiva, Sr.; her 
husband of 4 years, Raymond Troop and by 1 son, Jonathan Edward Paiva.
Friends and family are invited to attend services on Sunday, December 5, 2004 
at 1:00 p.m. at the DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton, 
CA. Visitation on Saturday, December 4, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Shoreline 
Chapel. Committal at Irvington Cemetery to be arranged.
