Frances Vivian Grupe 
April 22, 1918 - December 1, 2004



Fran Grupe, 86, of Linden, passed away peacefully at her Linden home, 
surrounded by her family and friends on Wednesday, December 1, 2004. She was 
born Frances Vivian Fitzgerald on April 22, 1918. Fran was a native of Stockton 
until her marriage to Karl Grupe, of 57 years, who led her to Linden in 1939, 
where she lived until her death. 
Fran was an avid tennis player and began playing at an early age at the Oak 
Park Tennis courts during the 1930's. She continued playing locally and 
statewide until a few years ago. Karl and Fran were charter members of West 
Lane Tennis Club and Elkhorn Country Club, where they acquired many lifelong 
friends.
Fran is survived by daughters, Karla Peterson of Lockeford and Charlyn Hulsman 
of Linden; 6 grandchildren, Cody, Jim and Kelly Peterson, Todd and Biff 
Gilliland and Betsy Kane and 3 great-grandchildren, Leah Peterson and Jackson 
and Kirby Gilliland.
Graveside services will be held Monday, December 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the 
Stockton Rural Cemetery, 2350 Cemetery Lane, Stockton, CA. Visitation for Fran 
will be held on Sunday, December 5 from 11:00 a.m-5:00 pm. at DeYoung Memorial 
Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton. Committal at Rural Cemetery.

Sutter St., Stockton, CA 95204 or the Linden-Peters Fire Dept.
