He was born July 30, 1906, in Ewa, Oahu, Hawaii. Mr. Hirasuna attended schools in Fresno, and later moved to Acampo where he married Kiyoko Sasaki. He was in an Internment Camp with his wife in Rower, Ark. in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 442nd Inf. Reg. He and his wife returned to Acampo in 1945 where he became a Field Foreman for a grape Rancher in Acampo. In 1949, they moved to a small farm east of Lodi where he was a vegetable farmer and later a gardener. He was a member of the Lodi Buddhist Church, and a former member of the Gardener's Club. He enjoyed reading, history, carpentry, traveling, watching old movies, growing vegetables, fruits and flowers. He is survived by his son, Lester Hirasuna, Fresno; daughters, Patsy Oda, of Lodi, Delphine Hirasuna and Diane Hirasuna, both of San Francisco; sisters, Sue Tsudama, of Fresno, Alyce Sasaki, of Lodi, and Chiyoko Kawashiri, of Fairfield; and brother, Jim Hirasuna, of Fresno. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kiyoko Hirasuna in 2000; and brother, Takashi Minazumi, of Santa Monica. A private funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park with the Rev. Kenshin Fujimoto of the Lodi Buddhist Church officiating. Inurnment will be private in the Chapel of the Flowers. A Family Remembrance Memorial Registry may be signed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, near Beckman Road in Lodi Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
