She was born November 15, 1914, to Robert and Lydia (Taylor) Ritzinger in Bogard, MO. She attended schools in that area and graduated from high school in 1931. As a young person she came to Colorado and worked on a ranch as a cook for the ranch hands. She always talked favorably of that time and considered it a good experience. She moved to California during the time of World War II and met and married Lawrence Preeo. They married on August 14, 1946 and made their home in Stockton. Helen chose to work in healthcare where she became a Psychiatric Technician at the old Stockton State Hospital and retired from there after 32 years. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; liked to travel and did so following her retirement, and was an expert in keeping photo albums updated. When her health began to fail, Helen moved to Greeley, CO to be near her stepdaughter and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence and a brother and sister. She is survived by her brother, Francis (Mary) Ritzinger of Carrollton, MO; stepdaughter, Edna (Renee) Simmering of Greeley, CO; 9 grandchildren, Steven McCoy, Douglas McCoy, Cathy Flot of Greeley, CO, Jim, Larry, Sandy, Deborah, Ruby Whited and Ronald Dukes all of Clarinda, IA, and numerous great grandchildren. Aunt of Sharon, Robert and Ralph Ritzinger all of Carrollton, MO and Robert, Gerald and Fred Preeo all of Stockton, CA. Private family graveside services will be held on Monday, December 6, 2004 in the Cherokee Memorial Park. Max Carroll at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
