He was born Dec. 25, 1930, in Oswegatchie, N.Y. Mr. Kilbourn served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years as a missions specialist until his retirement. He relocated to Phoenix, pursued careers in the municipal and private sectors as an industrial mechanical engineer specializing in pneumatic and hydraulic systems fabrication. Walter Kilbourn He and his wife moved to Galt in 1984, where he became the Industrial Arts teacher at the Galt Activities Center until the center closed in 1991. He was the founding scout master for Troup 91 of the Boys Scouts of America in Avondale, Ariz. He was Chapter Dad for the Avondale Chapter Order of DeMolay. He enjoyed spending time with his family and holiday gatherings. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce Kilbourn, of Galt; son, Brian Kilbourn; daughter, Sara Pena; and two grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Galt Cemetery with Galt VFW Post No. 9888 officiating. There will be no visitation. Ben Salas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
