Muriel Newsome 
Nov. 1, 1917 - December 7, 2004



Muriel Newsome, age 87 of Stockton passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2004, in 
a local hospital. She was born in Oakland, CA on November 1, 1917, to Van Buren 
and Minnie Henderson. She graduated in 1937 from Oakdale Union High School, 
Oakdale, CA. Muriel retired from San Joaquin County Hospital in 1979, after 23 
years of service as a Nurse's Aide. She was a volunteer for McKinley 
Improvement Association, Taft Community Center and was a grandparent for the 
California Youth Authority Program. 
Muriel leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, James Henderson of Las Vegas, 
NV, Elbert Henderson of Los Angeles, CA; six children, Oliver Newsome, Jr. of 
Ewa, Hawaii, Marie Hawkins of Atlanta, GA, Raymond Newsome of Stockton, CA, 
Dorene Anderson of Stockton, CA, Doris Newsome of Oakland, CA, Steven Newsome 
of Sacramento, CA; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at 
Frisbie–Warren & Carroll Mortuary, 809 N. California St., Stockton. Committal 
at Parkview Cemetery in Manteca.
