Jolyn C. Powell 
Aug. 19, 1929 - December 12, 2004

Mrs. Jolyn C. Powell of Stockton passed away Sunday December 12, 2004, in a 
Stockton hospital at the age of 75. Mrs. Powell was born August 19, 1929, in 
Slagle, Louisiana to Joseph and Thelma Chop. Mrs. Powell worked for the San 
Joaquin County Housing and Authority and had previously worked for the Tots "R" 
Us Pre-School in Stockton before retiring in 1988. She was a long time member 
of the First Church of God in Stockton. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, 
crocheting and spending time with her family and friends. She will be best 
remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be 
dearly missed.
She is survived by 2 sons, Timothy Powell of Gresham, Oregon and Gregory Powell 
of Stockton; 2 daughters, Barbara Lang of Lodi and Jill Tucker of Olivenhain, 
CA; 3 brothers, Tony Chop of Memphis, Tennessee, Bill Chop and Benny Chop of 
Oat Grove, LA; 2 sisters, Frieda Greason of Oat Grove, LA; and Janice Dukes of 
Jackson, Mississippi; 5 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was 
preceded in death by her husband, United States Navy Chaplain Ltcdr. Rufus 
Clarence Powell, Jr. in 1978.
A chapel service will be held Wednesday December 15, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Lodi 
Funeral Home, followed by interment at the Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. 
Visitation will be held Tuesday 12:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lodi Funeral Home, 725 
S. Fairmont Ave., Lodi.
