She was born August 12, 1908, to Paul and Minna Poetke in Bremen, Germany, and she and her family immigrated to Chicago, Illinois when Marge was 13. Marge married Fritz "Fred" Brettschneider, and she worked 30 years for the Curtis Candy Company in Chicago (and knew the true story behind the naming of the Baby Ruth candy bar!) After her only child, Charles "Chuck" moved to Stockton with his family in 1958, Marge and her husband, and her mother moved there too in 1963. While her son soon was transferred to Anaheim, CA, Marge and family remained in Stockton living on Polk Way for 37 years. She started a new career and worked a number of years for the Stockton Elevator Company as their payroll clerk. Marge was healthy and mentally strong her whole life, for which we are all very grateful. She was preceded in death by her husband Fritz Brettschneider; and her son and his wife, Chuck and Jean Brettschneider. She is survived by her grandchildren, Dawn Peaslee of Wenatchee, WA, Linda Brettschneider and her fiance Brad of Anaheim, CA, and Kirk Brettschneider and his wife Cindy of Taft, CA; great-granddaughter, Lisa Brettschneider of Taft, CA; and special friend Betty Lucas and her family in Stockton. There will be no services at Marge's request. A special thank you to her neighbors, friends, and loved ones who helped make Marge's life special, and also to the staff and residents of Beverly Healthcare Center for their kindness and care.
