He was born on August 23, 1927 in Cardin, Oklahoma, the son of Jesse James Barton and Mattie May Jackson Barton. Ralph was a U.S. Army Veteran, and honorably served in Korea and Vietnam, attaining the rank of First Sergeant before his retirement in 1967. After his military career, Ralph went to work for the California Water Company, retiring after 18 years. Mr. Barton is survived by his children: James R. Barton, Jr. of Stockton; Maria Blackmore of Florida; Mike Barton of Vermont and Beverly Hays of Missouri; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grand- children; a sister, Wanda Reyes of Stockton; and a brother, Wilbur Barton of Yuba City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie J. Barton in 1995; and two brothers, Raymond "Max" and Robert "Maynard" Barton. Also survived by a host of other relatives and numerous friends. Friends are invited to attend visi-tations from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary, 809 N. California Street in Stockton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, at the Mortuary, followed by a Military Committal Service at Stockton Rural Cemetery in Stockton.
