Charles Aaker
Charles M. Aaker, 73, of Lodi, died Jan. 5 in a local hospital following a 
lengthy illness. He was born March 20, 1931, in Valley City, N.D.

Mr. Aaker attended Valley State College, and majored in chemistry and 
mathematics. In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean 
War. He married his wife, Ann in 1952 and the couple moved to Fresno, where he 
worked as a chemist for Roma Winery. In 1972, he was transferred to Lodi, where 
he was promoted to Quality Assurance Control Manager for Guild Wineries and 
Distilleries for 37 years until his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed traveling, 
sports and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sons, Chuck Aaker Jr., of Portland, Ore., and Larry 
Aaker, of Lodi; daughters, Linda Knowles, Charlann Carpenter, Sandi Hieb and 
Shirley Gutierrez, all of Lodi; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Aaker, in 1990; and daughter, Kelly 
Marie.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel at Gierhart-Wells & 
Donahue Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul R. Donavan officiating. Interment will 
be private at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. 
to 5 p.m. Saturday, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
