He was born in Niles, CA on August 28, 1917. A retired businessman and farmer, Mr. Dutra remained an active community leader. He was a retired employee of Greyhound after 40 years. Mr. Dutra served as a Commissioner of the Housing Authority of the County of San Joaquin for over 20 years. Subsequently serving as Chairman of the Board of Community Medical Centers, Inc. based out of Stockton for 14 years, until his death. Also, he was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Manteca since 1983. Predeceased by his parents Marie and Antone Dutra; his wife, Donna Dutra; and his brother, Marion G. Dutra. Survived by his sister, Mary Coit, of Turlock; his brother, Anthony Dutra, sister-in-law, Shirley Dutra of Manteca; and his five children, Kathleen Gotschall, Georgeanne Dutra Evans, Donna Leatherman, George Dutra, Jr., and David Dutra. Also survived by nine grandchildren, Steve, David, and Benjamin Lucas; Lisamarie Duyn; Nolan Leatherman; Randy Leatherman Feland; Kevin Dutra; Marissa and Jason Dutra; plus, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Dutra is remembered by all who knew him as living life to the fullest; and, was often noted saying, "If you can't have fun don't go!" P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Viewing for Mr. Dutra will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Vigil/Rosary will follow the viewing at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
