George Gwynne Watkins 
Sept. 14, 1914 - Jan. 9, 2005



  Mr. George Gwynne Watkins, 90, passed away on January 9, 2005 in Stockton. 
Mr. Watkins was born on September 14, 1914 in Waverly and has lived in the 
Linden area all his life. George was a gentleman, guiding his family with a 
quiet wisdom and loving heart. He recently celebrated 65 years of marriage with 
Lucile. He was proud of his heritage, farming the land outside of Linden that 
has been in the Watkins family since 1867. Specializing in walnuts, row crops 
and cattle, he continued to feed his cattle up until this winter. He enjoyed 
sharing his stories of the old days with his grandchildren and great-
grandchildren, even remembering the smallest of details. We celebrate his life. 
George will be missed by those who had the honor to know him. He was a member 
of the Linden United Methodist Church, San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation and 
the San Joaquin County Historical Society. 
George is survived by his wife, Lucile; his children, Jane Watkins of Rocklin, 
Anne Albrecht and her husband, Otto of Galt and Thomas Watkins and his wife, 
Gayle of Linden. He also leaves behind his seven grandchildren, LaRaine Clark, 
Veronica Clark, Eric Rivero, Alana Millerick, Marc Cheney, Amy Watkins and 
Brian Watkins as well as 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. 
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lucile Watkins; his sister, 
Bernice Caruthers and brother, James Elton Watkins. 
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 12:00 - 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, 10:00 
a.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Wallace-Martin Funeral Home located at 520 N. Sutter 
Street in Stockton and a Celebration of George's life will be held on Friday, 
January 14, at 2:00 p.m. at the Linden United Methodist Church located at 19147 
E. Hwy 26 in Linden with a committal taking place immediately following the 
service at the Linden Cemetery. 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Linden United Methodist Church or the 
Linden Peters Fire District.
