Mae was born on May 2, 1919 in Stockton, the youngest of ten children born to Giacomo and Maria Tassano. When Mae was a young girl, she went with her family to dances at Growers Hall where her brothers taught her to dance. She loved ballroom dancing, and in 1937 at the Cinderella Ballroom in downtown Stockton, she was introduced to John Dellamandola. That was the beginning of their life together on and off the dance floor. For many years they went to weekly dances in Stockton and the surrounding area. In the 1930's, while in high school and after graduation, she and her sister Elsie played softball for the champion Harvard Bookies and the Branch Tommies. In 1975, along with their teammates, they were inducted into the Stockton Athletic Hall of Fame. Mae was a housewife who enjoyed cooking for family and friends and working in her yard. She will be remembered for her bright smile, sparkling laugh and her husband, John. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, John; her loving brothers, Anthony V. Tassano, Criston Tassano and James L. Tassano of Stockton and John B. Tassano of Manteca and her sister, Elsie Hoppell of Stockton.
