Mrs. Wessling was born April 15, 1918 in Oakland, California to Leonard and Helen VanInwagen. Mrs. Wessling was a professional musician and founding member of the Stockton Chorale in 1954, and also a member of the Stockton Opera Company, the San Francisco Opera Company and the Pollardville-Players at the Chicken Kitchen in Stockton. She also performed for Queen Elizabeth along with the Stockton Chorale, the Vatican, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Mrs. Wessling was member of the United Methodist Church in Lodi for many years, and sang for the church choir as well as Central Methodist Church choir. She also was a director and great inspiration for the United and Central Methodist Youth Groups. She was an avid walker and enjoyed swimming, hiking, camping, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends she will be greatly missed. She is survived by 2 daughters, Lynne Schimpf and husband Paul of Stockton; Phyllis A.W. Gordon of Azle, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Darcy Altheide and husband Larry of Stockton; Kari Torell of Stockton; Larkin Pauluzzi of Dallas, Texas; Todd Gordon of Azle, Texas; Christopher Gordon of Azle, Texas; 5 great grandchildren, Christopher Marquez, Kylie Chambers, Halie Torell, Alexis Altheide and Makyla Altheide all of Stockton. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Wessling in 1999; 1 brother, Leonard VanInwagen. A Graveside service will be held Friday January 14, 2005, 1:00 pm at the Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Lodi Funeral Home.
