He served in the Air Force and worked for Halliburton Services as a Supervisor of South East Asia Operations. Upon return to the United States, he was a District Manager for Nowsco Services of Bakersfield. He returned to Stockton and retired from Champion Tank Testing of Sacramento. He was a member of the American Legion Karl Ross Post and the NRA. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to spend time with his family and his dog Blackie. He is survived, also, by his daughter Mindy Boyd and son Brandon Boyd both of Missouri; sister Kay and brother-in-law Kees Hennink both of New Mexico; sister Brenda Boyd of Stockton; sister and brother-in-laws John & Karen Wrennick, Bill & Marie McLachlan, Rick & Sherry McDonald, Eddie & Ellie Stearns, all of Stockton, Gary & Linda Kopp of Manteca, Kenny & Cindy Stearns of Renton, WA; numerous nieces and nephews, and his grandson Russel Burkhart III all of Stockton. Per his request, there will be a private service. Committal: St. John's Cemetery, Escalon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice House of San Joaquin for their compassionate assistance: 3888 N. Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95207.
