Lawson, Sr. Sept. 13, 1921 - Jan. 9, 2005 Arlie L. Lawson, Sr. died peacefully at home on Sunday, January 9, 2005 after a long illness. He was a native of Oklahoma, born on September 9, 1921, and raised in rural Talihina. He was a resident of Farmington since 1965. He served as a Medic in the Army Corps in World War II. After leaving Oklahoma in 1951, he worked at Consolidated Aircraft and the San Diego Zoo for several years, and later at Calaveras Cement in San Andreas and Cozad Trailers in Stockton. He also raised beef cattle and loved everything outdoors, including gardening and in his earlier years, hunting. He was a devoted horseman who enjoyed roping calves as a hobby, and in the late '50's was a charter member of the Calaveras Horsemen's Association. In the early '70's he was a partner in providing horse and mule drawn sleigh rides in Bear Valley on weekends, and was a horse and buggy enthusiast also. In '73 he took a month off from work to ride 400 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail with a friend and son Bob. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jo; sons Richard, Arlie Jr. and Robert; daughter Julie Centeno and her husband Hector. He is also survived by two brothers, Mont Jr. of Oklahoma and Thomas Vin of Arkansas, in addition to many loving cousins.
