She was born in Wood River Nebraska on January 22, 1921 and she lived in Stockton the last 63 years. LaVerne was the Cafeteria Manager at Hamilton Jr. High School where she retired after 22 years of service. After her retirement began, she and her husband enjoyed traveling. They went on a six week cross country adventure in their motor home and they also enjoyed taking cruises to different places. She enjoyed gardening and she truly loved being with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. LaVerne was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church. LaVerne is survived by her daughter Karen Borst and her husband Doug of Stockton; her son Robert Engle and his wife Lynell of Stockton; her brothers Homer Beckler of Modesto, Orval Beckler of Oregon and Raymond Beckler of Nebraska; her grandchildren Kimberly Arellano, Michael Engle and his wife Nikki, and her great-grandchildren Alexus Arellano, Lindsey Arellano, Nicholas Engle and Ryan Engle. She is preceded in death by her husband George Cy Engle and her brothers Maynard and Sidney Beckler. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 16, 10:00 am-5:00 pm and Monday, January 17, 10:00 am-7:00 pm at Wallace-Martin Funeral Home located at 520 N. Sutter Street and services will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, January 18, 2005. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 444 N. American St., Stockton, CA 95202. Committal will take place at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.
