Maizie Speegle Crabtree, age 75, of 321 Cardinal Ave., Troy, NC died Saturday, 
January 15, 2005 at her daughter's home in Asheboro, NC.
Born in Lawrenceburg, TN, she was raised in Stockton, CA where she met her 
husband of 53 years, Charles Crabtree. Mrs. Crabtree attended the University of 
the Pacific in Stockton, CA and Mexico City College in Mexico City. She was an 
avid gardener, gourmet cook and homemaker. She co-founded Knit Master in 1971 
where she worked for 30 years.
She is survived by her husband Charles R. Crabtree of Troy, NC; daughter Carla 
Taylor of Asheboro, NC; daughter & son-in-law Rebecca "Ned" and Jeffrey 
Carriker of Asheboro, NC; brother & sister-in-law Herschel and Charlotte 
Speegle of Lodi, CA; sister-in-law Twyla Crabtree of Atlanta, GA; grandson and 
wife Franklin and Bonnie Batten of Randleman, NC; grandson, Eric Cook of 
Asheboro, NC; granddaughter Clarke Carriker of Asheboro, NC; great-
granddaughter Alexandra Batten of Asheboro, NC.
The family received friends Monday, January 17 at Pugh Funeral Home in 
Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Tuesday, January 18 at 2:00 pm at Pugh 
Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro with Chaplain Tim Pheagin officiating. Burial 
will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
