He was born Dec. 26, 1905, in the Phillippines. Mr. Guillena was raised in Bohul, Phillippines, and resided there until the age of 21. He moved to California in 1925 and settled in Thornton. He served in the U.S. Army as a translator from 1942-46 during World War II, and then worked as a farmer until his retirement. In his younger days, he enjoyed vacationing in different places around the world. He also enjoyed football, basketball and growing vegetables. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eleanor Guillena, of Thornton; daughters, Evelyn Pescador, Constancia Guillena-Sanchez, Pearl Faddis and Maggie Guillena; sons, Francisco Guillena Jr., and Joseph Guillena; and seven grandchildren. A funeral will be held along with a recitation of the rosary at 2 p.m. Monday at Ben Salas Funeral Home with Deacon Adolfo Rivera of St. Christopher's Church officiating. Committal will be private at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
