Maurer June 25, 1923 - Jan. 18, 2005 Bert F. Maurer, 81, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2005. He was born in Brooklyn on June 25, 1923. Bert attended U.O.P. where he was a member of Rho Lambda Phi fraternity. He then entered the Navy. He served in the Navy for 4 years and in the Naval Reserve for 10 years as a 1st Lieutenant. He then attended and graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Agriculture Business. In the 1930's, he and his family were known as the Red Lion Celery Kings of California. Bert was a farmer of row crops and vineyards for over 42 years. Bert was the beloved husband of Dovie Maurer, father of Myndell Shivers of Fremont, CA, Dominee Maurer and Julie Hughes of Los Angeles, CA and Robert Maurer of Stockton. Cherished grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to attend a Vigil Service at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton on Sunday, January 23 at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 2455 Country Club Blvd., Stockton on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel on Saturday, January 22 and Sunday, January 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Committal: San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
