Walter F. Pruss 
January 2, 1916 - January 17, 2005



Walter F. Pruss, age 89 of Lodi, CA, passed away Monday, January 17, 2005 in a 
Lodi Hospital.
He was born on January 2, 1916 in Bridgeport, CT. He was a graduate of 
Bridgeport High School and the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, AK. He served 
in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and then in the Korean Conflict and 
was discharged as a Major in 1963 after 17 years of service. He then settled in 
Lodi. In the past, he was a member of the San Joaquin County Grand Jury, the 
Lodi SIRS, a charter member of the City of Lodi Police Department Partners, and 
the Lodi Historical Society. He enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Walter is survived by his wife of 25 years, Janet Pruss of Lodi and his son, 
James Walter Pruss of Lodi.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Elma B. Pruss on June 19, 1978 and 
one sister.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 25 at 10:00 a.m. in the 
Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane in Lodi. 
Chaplain Bill Sherrill of the Lodi Police Department will officiate. Inurnment 
will be private. A Family Memorial Registry may be signed at Cherokee Memorial 
Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way near Beckman Road in Lodi on Monday 9:00 a.m. 
to 5:00 p.m. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
