He died in the presence of family at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stockton. Dick grew up in Southern California after his parents moved their family there in 1934. He attended Rosemead schools and graduated from El Monte Union High in 1945, where he was active in outdoor sports, lettered in JV football, and was active in student government. He still had close ties with friends from high school. After high school, Dick attended Pasadena Junior College where he pledged Phi Alpha Sigma fraternity. He joined the Coast Guard in 1946 and served in the icy waters off Baltimore, MD, on the UCGC Violet. He returned to Southern California and completed his education at Woodbury College in Los Angeles, with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration in 1949. He then pursued a career in accounting. He moved from Pasadena to Stockton in 1962 after a colleague who had moved encouraged him to check out the area. Delta Savings and Loan employed him as a manager, and he moved his wife, Le Dean and baby daughter, Anna to Stockton. His son, David was born the following year. Dick became a Certified Public Accountant in 1972, earning his certificate while raising his family. After working in the banking industry, he worked in private practices for many years. He retired from the San Joaquin Housing Authority in 1994 as deputy director of finance, but continued serving the public through friends accounting firms on a seasonal basis in retirement. He was an active man who enjoyed the California lifestyle, which for him included tennis, snow skiing, water skiing, golf, bridge, and socializing. He enjoyed the activities, but he enjoyed the people he did them with even more. He enjoyed his family, being fiercely independent, the pleasure of others company, gardening camellias, roses, and tomatoes, a glass of wine, the newspaper, a really good hamburger, and the way the sun made him feel. He was a former member of Kiwanis, the STARS boat patrol, and a member of the Port Stockton Branch 46 of Sons in Retirement. He was a staunch Republican, loved even by Democrats. He surely accomplished his task of leaving the world a better place. For proof of that, one only has to look at his two children. His life was an inspiration, his memory a blessing. He lived well, laughed often, loved and was loved. He was a nice man, and in his world, nice mattered. Survivors include his daughter, Anna Moore Knapp of Jacksonville, FL; two grandsons by her, Gavin and Ryan; son David Moore and his wife, Barbara of Stockton; one step-grandson by him, Colton Jackson; sister Myrna Moore Langley and her husband Robert; niece by her Andrea Langley Baker and great-niece Brittany Baker, all of Carmichael; favorite cousin Audrey Grundy and her husband William of Newport Beach. His life was celebrated with many others, too numerous to mention, but not forgotten by Dick's family. Per his desire, no services will be held.
