She passed into the presence of the Lord on January 16, 2005 at her granddaughter's home in Lincoln, CA after a brief illness. She was the daughter of Samuel and Dollie Graham. Ione is survived by her sister, Betty Jo Johnson of Sherman, Texas; beloved mother of Patricia Iwana Campbell of Sacramento, Mary Eugenia (Genie) Sauer of Stockton, and Harold Joseph Dennis of Stockton; cherished grand-mother of Samuel Jefferson (Jeff) Campbell of Newcastle, Suzzanne Jeannette Bonn of Granite Bay, Stephanie Jone Stuart of Lincoln, CA, David Eugene Sauer of Boise, ID, Angela Marie Pemberton of Stockton, John Christian Sauer of Stockton and Adrianne Marie Dennis of Stockton; precious great-grandmother of 34 great-grandchildren who adored her as their "Grammy Goose." She is also survived by a step-daughter, Elizabeth Shaeffer, and two step-grandchildren, Kristina and Junior, all of Modesto. Ione was preceded in passing by her first husband, Harold Jefferson (Pete) Dennis in 1974 after 36 years of marriage and her second husband, George Anderson Shaeffer in 2003 after 27 years of marriage. She was also preceded by two infant great- grandchildren, Aubrie Faith Bonn in 1984 and Laura Ashley Pemberton in 1988. Ione initially worked as a seamstress at both The Sterling and JC Penney in Stockton before becoming a dental assistant in Stockton for many years. She later retired from Albert Paper Company in Stockton in 1986. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, traveling the U.S., entertaining and playing bridge and pinochle with the same groups of close friends in Stockton for nearly 50 years. Over the years she was a participant in Mother Singers, Eastern Star, and the White Shrine of Stockton. She was an active member of her church since 1957. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial service to be held on Monday, January 24, 2005, 10:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church of Stockton, 808 W. Porter Ave., with Pastor Amy Jo Matteis presiding.
