Nitzky, 77, of Lodi, died Jan. 26 in his home. He was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Philadelphia, where he was raised and attended Philadelphia Boys School. Mr. Nitzky served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines during World War II, and in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He later attended U.C. Berkeley. He was employed by General Foods for 17 years as a controller in San Leandro, and then worked for Mendelson-Zeller for eight years as an assistant controller. He owned and operated the Lodi Inn from 1979 until his retirement in 1986. Following his retirement, he moved to Delaware, and then returned to Lodi after 10 years. He was active with the Parners of Lodi for five years, and served as an Ombudsman in Delaware and Stockton. He is survived by his wife, Susan Nitzky, of Lodi; son, David Read, of Las Vegas; one daughter; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife; and his brothers. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at his residence, 2520 Crown Place, Lodi. Inurnment will be private.
