Carol C. Nowak May 10, 1928 — April 10, 2004 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday for longtime Tracy resident and former industrial engineer Carol C. Nowak, 75, who died Saturday at his home. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Nowak moved to Tracy from Sacramento in 1964. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948. He worked as an industrial engineer for the U.S. Department of Defense for 40 years. A parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, he was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He coached basketball and baseball in his younger years and enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann Nowak of Tracy; sons Charles Nowak and wife Patricia of Manteca, David Nowak and wife Christine of Stockton and Michael Solomon of Hendersonville, Tenn.; daughters Carole Walsh and husband William of Folsom, Dianne R. Nowak of Stockton and Mary Anne Jones and husband Kevin of Lodi; grandchildren Charles Nowak Jr. of Manteca, Christopher Nowak of San Carlos, Matthew Walsh of Folsom, Ethan Jones of Lodi, Kathleen Nowak of San Francisco, Danielle Walsh of Folsom and Katherine Jones of Lodi; brother Chester Novoczynski of Brooklyn; sisters Caroline Lycko of Lake Forest, Ill., and Betty Lewendrowski of Poland, N.Y. He was preceded in death by brothers Alfred Nowak and Henry Novoczynski and grandson Daniel Dias. Tuesday’s Mass will begin at 1 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave., where a vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and East Harney Road in Lodi.
