Floyd Martin 
Floyd A. Martin, 87, of Cedar Hills, Texas and formerly of Lodi, died Jan. 19. 
He was born April 8, 1917, in Jefferson, Iowa.

Mr. Martin was raised near Slayton, Minn., where he farmed with teams of 
horses. He married LaWauna M. DeBall in 1941, and they settled in Lodi in 1947. 
He was employed by Stokely Van Camp and then Pacific Coast Producers as a night 
cookroom foreman for 30 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church 
in Lodi for over 50 years. He moved to Texas in 2002 to be near his son and his 
family. He enjoyed all aspects of gardening, and enjoyed helping friends and 
neighbors with their yards. 

He is survived by his sons, John Beal, of Faribault, Minn., Ronald Martin, of 
Weaverville, and Richard Martin, of Cedar Hill, Texas; daughter, Shirley 
Wallace, of Houston; sister, Melba Carney, of Slayton, Minn.; four 
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United 
Methodist Church with the Rev. Alan Kimber officiating. Inurnment will be 
private at Cherokee Memorial Park.
